A sports club chairman has insisted planners who blocked a bid to upgrade a Heybridge fishing lake were in the right.
Drapers Farm Sports Club chairman Douglas Chambers said water from the Chigborough Carp Syndicate Fishing Lake, off Scraley Road, Heybridge, was already damaging neighbouring pitches used by Maldon Cricket Club and Maldon Rugby Union Football Club.
He said: "My main problem is the water level.
"It's higher than the pitches next door and higher than it used to be."
