COLCHESTER United interim head coach Hayden Mullins admits they will come up against a ‘dangerous’ side when they face Tranmere Rovers tomorrow.

The U’s complete their League Two campaign at Prenton Park with a game against a Tranmere team who are aiming to secure their place in the play-offs, on the final day of the regular season.

Colchester drew 2-2 with Tranmere six weeks ago, with goals from Harry Pell and Brendan Wiredu cancelled out by Danny Lloyd and Jay Spearing, at the JobServe Community Stadium.

Mullins said: “Tranmere are a dangerous side who need to get a result, we know that.

“It’ll be a tough, tough match for us and if we’re not ready for it, it will be one which will be very hard.

“The game earlier this season showed what we can do against them and also, what they can do against us.

“The way they came charging back was quite impressive and they’re a good side – we know that.

“They’re up there because they’ve done well this season and they have a lot of players who can hurt you, which we’re fully aware of and we need to prepare right.

“It’ll be another tough game on the road.

“They’re a good side and they’re still trying to secure their play-off place, so they need a result.

“Tranmere have a number of threats across the field and they’ve played different formations.

“We’re trying to prep against their better players and the areas of the pitch they might be in.

“We know what we want to do and how we want to set up.

“We want to be how we’ve been in recent weeks and get a positive result.”

Colchester will be without Pell and Callum Harriott tomorrow, with both players absent again due to personal reasons.

Josh Bohui is pushing for a start after coming off the bench to score the U’s winner in their 1-0 win over Salford City last weekend, a result which ultimately secured their place in the division.

Colchester can finish 19th in the table with a victory but could finish as low as 22nd, if they lose and other teams below them win.
