COLCHESTER United secured their League Two status after beating Salford City 1-0.

Josh Bohui's goal just after the midway point in the second half proved enough for the U's to claim an impressive victory, over the in-form Ammies who finished the game with only nine men after Di'Shon Bernard and Ash Hunter were sent off.

It helped Colchester secure a third successive home win to finish the season at the JobServe Community Stadium.

Hayden Mullins' side finish the campaign with a trip to play promotion-chasing Tranmere Rovers, next weekend.

Here the Gazette rates the players' performances, following their victory over Salford.

U’s keeper was very well protected by his defenders but looked solid when needed

MILES WELCH-HAYES 8

Defended well when called upon and also linked up well with Poku on the U's right

Was completely dominant in the air and read the game superbly throughout; went close with an early header

TOMMY SMITH 8

U’s stand-in captain produced another commanding display in keeping with his recent fine form

RYAN CLAMPIN 7

Put in another good display at left-back but might have been relieved after Gotts tumbled under his challenge in the area but Salford claims were rejected

Made a positive contribution in a left-midfield role before being withdrawn on the hour

BRENDAN WIREDU 7

Battled hard for his side in midfield; was taken off soon after being booked

Produced plenty of trickery and skill on his first start for the U’s for more than two months

FRANK NOUBLE 7

Was denied by keeper Hladky in the first half and worked hard for his side
