COLCHESTER United returned no positive cases of Covid-19 among their players and staff, following the latest round of testing.

The U's players and club staff were tested over the course of Saturday (May 30), Sunday (May 31), Monday (June 1) and Tuesday (June 2), with zero individuals testing positive.

A total of 126 players and club staff were tested at the four League Two clubs who are preparing to take part in the play-offs, which could be confirmed next week.

Along with Colchester, players and staff at Exeter City, Cheltenham Town and Northampton Town are also being tested.

The news follows on from the U's announcement last Saturday that four of their players and staff tested positive for Covid-19 during the testing that had taken place last Thursday and Friday.

In keeping with guidelines, the quartet must be excluded for a minimum of seven days off-site or until symptoms resolve.

If necessary for symptom resolution, individuals must remain away for a further seven days whilst undertaking a gradual return to activity.

Colchester's players returned for training in small groups on Monday, as they prepare for the potential play-off.

And tests for coronavirus are taking place twice a week at clubs who have returned to training.

In keeping with guidelines, every U's player or member of staff who attends their Florence Park training ground must complete a screening protocol to detect any symptoms in a manner devised by the club doctor, prior to entering the venue.

Colchester's players and staff are also being required to complete a daily medical questionnaire submitted before arrival at the training ground on training days.

If this is not submitted before arrival, access to the training ground will be denied.
