CLACTON Golf Club professional Jason Levermore, accompanied by three fellow members, competed at the Essex PGA overseas Pro-Am tournament in the French seaside town of Le Touquet.

The Clacton team of Levermore, Mark Hulstrom, Mark Sorrell and Nicky Heffer must have felt at home with the conditions as they won both the professional contest and also the Pro-Am event.

The popular three-day, 54-hole competition, organised by the Essex PGA, attracted a field of 24 teams.

Levermore (pictured right) won the professional tournament with a score of minus four for the three days.

His team won the pro-am tournament by ten shots.

They played so well they were 55 under par for the three days. They hope to return next year as defending champions.

Meanwhile, Clacton’s men played for the October Medal.

Past captain Peter Hewett was first home with 71-5-66.

Second was elite junior member Sam Teer (75-8-67) and third Bob Hanks (78-10-68).

The junior section played for the Janet Green Trophy.

This is a pairs stableford best ball competition.

Harry Bennison and Michell Buxton were first home with a very good 44 points.

Second were James Bettis and Jasper Parker with 41 and in third were Finn Harkin and Jonathan Hewett, with 37.

The senior section played their October Stableford.

First was Tom Borlase with 38 points, second was Roy Goodall with 37 and third was past captain Norman Starling.

Clacton’s ladies had a wonderful 36-hole autumn meeting, with the morning session being a four ball better ball stableford.

First were Denise Pink and Chesh Robinson with 41 points and second were Mary Cole and Anita Davey with 40, on countback from Sonja Strutt and Karen Scott, also with 40.

The afternoon match was a special Clacton stableford scramble with teams of four.

First with a score of 26 were Sonja Strutt, Karen Scott, Denise Pink and Chesh Robinson.

In second place with a score of 27.6 were Stephanie Smith, Marlene Barwick, Barbara Mahoney and Gilly Cullen.
