There was plenty of local success at the annual ITF Veterans Tournament at Frinton Lawn Tennis Club.

Among the most notable winners at the Holland Road courts were Frinton quartet Colin Minter (men’s 55 singles), Ken Bate (men’s 75 singles), club coach Jill Felstead (ladies’ 60 singles) and Barry Todd (men’s 65 singles and 70 doubles).

Head coach Chris Harris was runner-up in the men’s 35 singles while Todd lost in the final of the 70s singles to Sudbury ace Dave Garman.

Elsewhere, there was success for Dutch pair Eva Haslinghuis (ladies’ 35 singles) and Wily Baks (ladies’ 65 singles).

Meanwhile, the Aegon Pro-Series – featuring some of the best international up-and-coming stars – is taking place at Frinton.

It started on Sunday and the finals will take place on Saturday.

Josh Milton, the sixth seed, is the highest-ranked Brit.

The 19-year-old from Wales is currently ranked 659.

There are players from 13 different countries in the main draw and previous winners include Amelie Mauresmo and Jamie Murray.

Spectators are welcome at the club. There is no entry charge.
