FC CLACTON have postponed their next two first-team matches after receiving a positive Covid-19 test.

The Seasiders' next two Thurlow Nunn League premier division matches against Woodbridge Town, which was due to take place on Saturday and Hadleigh United (next Tuesday) have been postponed.

In addition, the clubhouse at the Austin Arena will remain closed for the next two weeks as a result of the positive test.

In a club statement, the club said: 'A number of our First Team & one of our Committee developed Covid symptoms late last week, following which they undertook tests & self isolated.

'Results from the first of these tests have now been received, testing positive for Covid 19.

'As a result we have asked the Thurlow Nunn League to postpone our next 2 matches, which they have agreed to & we now await results from the remaining tests.

'As a precaution we are also undertaking a thorough deep clean of the Clubhouse & that will be closed for the next 2 weeks.

'We stress this was First Team players & no connection to our other senior or any youth teams.

'Like other clubs we have a thorough & robust Covid Risk Assessment in place, which has been adhered to at all times.

'Having positive tests is a stark reminder of how aggressive this virus is & how we all need to do more to stop its spread.

'Our First Team home game this Saturday is postponed but as it stands all other fixtures are unaffected & will go ahead.

'This situation could obviously change quickly & if it does we will do our best to keep everyone updated.

'The virus is still out there. We must all be even more vigilant, even more careful & follow all advice to try & stop it spreading. Thank you.'
