CRAIG Fagan is interested in becoming Southend United’s next manager.
The 37-year-old has impressed the Roots Hall hierarchy with his work in charge of the club’s under 23 side.
And Fagan has confirmed he would be interested in making the step up.
“I’m very happy in my role with the 23s but if the opportunity came up then of course I’d be more than happy to be the manager,” said Fagan.
“I’ve been at the club for a year so I know what’s needed and I already know of all the players as well, especially the younger ones who I’ve worked with a lot.”
Fagan, who has been with Blues since the start of last season, had previously worked within the academy voluntarily.
He made 355 appearances during his own playing career and lined up in the Premier League for Hull City, Derby County and Birmingham City.
