CLACTON Golf Club's ladies played in the Daily Mail Foursomes.

Hoon Locke and Liz Strutt were the winners with 75 points and the runners-up were Pam Richmond and Tricia Galleway.

The winners will now go forward as club representatives in this national competition.

Ladies' teams from Clacton, Frinton and Harwich played in their annual Coastal Belles match on Thursday.

The weather was kind enough to get round the course without getting too wet.

Teams of eight, playing in threes, played a stableford round and the six best scores from each club are totalled up.

Frinton came out top this year with 174 points.

Clacton were second with 160 and Harwich had 152.

The Clacton players were Brenda Lord, Di Kedge, Sue Gurry, Lin Euston, Sandy Cocker, Gilly Wilson, Mo Humphreys and Verity Coulthard Clacton's juniors played their October medal and the clear winner, shooting a nett 65, was Henry Goodwin.

In second place, with nett 71, was Cameron Curtis and in third place, with a nett 72, was Max Robertson.

On Sunday, Clacton's men started the 2019-20 Top Dogs competition.

A good field played in great conditions, with some excellent scores being returned.

Two pairs returned nett 61s, with countback placing Alan Corbyn and Bob Foster in first place and Andrew Brothers and John Moore second.

Third place went to Brady Diplock and Ben Usedon, with nett 63.

Seventeen other pairs all scored in the 60s, with points for the first 20 scores awarded.
