HOLLAND FC striker Jimmy Webb believes continuity and familiarity can bring handsome rewards this season.

The club hope to push for promotion and will be striving to enhance that position in tomorrow’s Thurlow Nunn League first division south clash at home to Halstead Town.

Webb feels confident that in terms of talent and camaraderie, they can beat anyone on their day.

“I’m loving it here,” said the 29-year-old.

“(Manager) Paul (Phelan) has settled the side and gives us a structure in terms of the way we play.

“He has a gameplan and sticks to it, whether we’re playing the best team in the league or the worst.

“It’s always the same so everyone knows their job, because we’ve got that continuity and familiarity with each other.

“The basic idea is to keep the ball and attack when we can, but to be patient at the same time. That’s important.

“So far, it’s working well.

“He’s a quality manager and we’re playing well, individually and collectively.

“It’s been a bit of a transitional time with everyone adapting to the way he wants to play.

“But we’re definitely getting there and making progress.

“I believe we’re capable of pushing for promotion but it’s about being consistent.

“One week we’re brilliant and there isn’t a team in the league we can’t beat.

“But it’s about being good on a regular basis and whether every player turns up for every game.

“We’re getting closer to that and it’s definitely coming, because there’s so much talent in the squad.”

Webb has scored five goals this term, notching against White Ensign, Harwich and Parkeston, Burnham Ramblers, Little Oakley and Brightlingsea Regent Reserves.

And he says his performances reflect his enjoyment at the club.

“I’m pleased with the way I’m playing and to have scored a few goals,” he said.

“Part of the reason is that I’m so happy here.

“I love the buzz around the place and get on with everyone in the squad.

“They’re all good mates and there’s not one of them I don’t like.

“The feeling of winning together is amazing, especially coming home after an away game. That’s what I play football for.

“It’s great playing with younger lads and it’s weird for me to be one of the older players in the squad.

“I’ve always been one of the younger ones at other clubs.

“I’ve tried to take them under my wing, like others have to me in the past, and I’ve enjoyed that responsibility.”

Webb is currently nursing an ankle injury and is also due to be away for a fortnight, while on his honeymoon.

He will be back in early November.

“I’ll be really hungry to start playing again, especially having missed a couple of matches through injury recently,” he said.

“I hate missing games and don’t always come to watch when I’m injured or suspended. I find it too hard.

“It drives me crazy because I want to be out there.”

Holland won 3-1 at May and Baker on Friday thanks to goals from Bailey Barnard, Steve Eaton and Markel Greenidge.
