CLACTON Golf Club PGA professional Sam Teer celebrated a hole-in-one.

It came using a wedge on the seventh hole, when he aced his shot in general play. It was his third hole-in-one so far.

Meanwhile, Clacton's juniors played their Club Championships.

Thirty-six holes provided a challenge but some good scores were recorded and there were several trophies to be won.

The junior club champion for 2019 was Wilf Elliott, while the gold division went to Harvey Bell, the silver division to James Wright and the bronze division to Cameron Curtis.

Milo Locke won the Ted Hurst Cup and Maxwell Robertson had a two on the par four 12th hole.

The Committee Salver was played and this is a mixed competition for players from all sections of the club who had supported, organised and aided in the running of teams and committees.

Lin Euston took the trophy, with Dave Gilbert second and Terry Hewitt third.

The ladies played their medal five event and Katy Yates won with a nett 74, followed by Patricia Galleway, with 76.

In third place was Judy Speck, on countback, with 78.

Jackie Bright and Angela Barratt represented Clacton in the national Australian Spoons competition at Thetford Golf Club.

Unfortunately, they didn’t make it through to the next round but enjoyed the experience.

The Men’s July Medal produced some extremely low scores.

Eighty-nine players entered over two divisions and 16 twos were carded on the day.

In division one, Andy Hobbs won with nett 64.

Keith Sampson was second (66) and Jordan Blanche-Price third (68 on countback).

Phil Green won division two, with nett 64, and he was followed by Tommy Lee (66), on countback from third-placed James Allerton.

On Saturday, 112 players entered the Hospital Cup par/bogey competition and the winner was Richard Bridger, with an impressive +6.

In second was Mark Scott, on +5, on countback from Chris Little.
