CLACTON golfer Tom Heffer entered the Trilby Tour competition at Whittlebury Park Golf Club, in Northampton.

A large field of over 150 competitors played in this national event.

Heffer, assisted by caddy Craig Bruce, finished the day in first place on 37 points, alongside several other players.

He then got through to the sudden-death three-hole playoff.

In tense conditions, he prevailed and was delighted to claim the prestigious trophy.

Meanwhile, Clacton Golf Club's juniors played for the Peter George Trophy.

Harrison Dove came first with 37 points, closely followed by Henry Goodwin, with 36.

The Lady Captain’s Rose Bowl was played for this week.

Anne Wright claimed first place in the stableford competition with 35 points, on countback from Sandy Cocker.

Third place went to Fiona Cope on 34.

The ladies' county Harris Bowl team of Katy Yates, Fiona Cope, Di Kedge, Jennie Corbyn and Angela Barratt travelled away to Colne Valley Golf Club in their latest match in this event.

In extremely hot conditions, against stiff opposition and after a spirited fight, the team suffered a 3½-1½ defeat.
