CLACTON Golf Club lady captain Cath Fage was pleased to see clear weather for her Lady Captain's Day competition.

After torrential overnight rain, the weather was good for the full field of ladies who entered the event competing for the prestigious prizes on offer.

Ann Wright was the overall winner on 33 points, continuing her run of good form.

A plethora of ladies followed with 32 points and the results after countback were Denise Pink second, Gill Wilson third and Fiona Cope fourth.

Nearest the pins were claimed by Liz Strutt on the second and Sue Gurry on the seventh.

A buffet meal followed with evening entertainment for Fage family members and friends, players and guests.

Meanwhile, Clacton's ladies' county Harris Bowl team played a home match against Belfairs.

The Clacton team of Katy Yates, Hoone Locke, Denise Pink, Angela Barratt and Lin Euston had a fine 4-1 win.

The club's juniors played their Stableford No.5 this week, with Ethan Dalzell carding a fine 38 points, with Maxwell Robertson second on 33 and Henry Goodwin third on 31.

The junior Youth Shield team travelled to The Warren to play their last group match.

In a closely-contested event, the team lost 3-2.

However, they have still qualified for the quarter-finals.

Excellent wins were achieved by Samuel Bruce and James Wright, who was making his debut.

The men's stableford competition was for the Captain's Prize.

With 126 players entering the event in glorious weather, fine scores were recorded, including 16 twos on the day.

Sean Stuttaford claimed first place with 41 points, on countback from Nick Smith, who also finished on 41, while Keith Barns was third on 40 points.
