THORPE'S bowlers are through to the Knockout Trophy final.

They made further progress after winning their semi-final against Clacton.

Although Thorpe only won on two of the three rinks, the combined score was higher.

The team now go on to meet Frinton in the final, which will be held at Brightlingsea on July 20.

Meanwhile, Thorpe held the annual Pettitt Cup competition.

The format is four games of six ends, four wood mixed pairs.

Overall, 13 teams entered and the victorious champions were Barbara Hopgood and Mick Dutfield.

They scored seven points for three wins and a draw.

The game was followed by the annual barbecue.

Thorpe's Windsor League team travelled to Mistley and Manningtree and met a very depleted team who were only able to field two rinks.

Each team won a rink and the visitors walked away with eight points.

Results: Derek Bailey, Alan Clark and Terry Smart 13-20; Malcolm Wakelin, Kenny Kendrick and Norman Bailey 19-10.

The Stanford League team hosted Brightlingsea, who produced a strong team and claimed six of the eight available points.

Results: Dennis Willoughby, Dave Thornton, Dave Sullivan and Terry Smart 17-20; Terry Greenwald, Colin Barker, Ray Knight and Kev Cooper 25-11; Derek Bailey, Alan Clark, Dick Ramsbottom and John Ward 8-27.

The Premier League team travelled to Dovercourt and met a good team.

Thorpe managed only two of the eight points.

They were successful in securing six of the eight points.
