CLACTON Golf Club hosted their Junior June Medal and James Wright won on countback, with nett 73.

Samuel Bruce was second and James Foley third, with nett 74.

Meanwhile, Clacton's juniors played their next Youth Shield scratch league match against previously-unbeaten Forrester Park.

The team pulled off an excellent win and there was success for Wilf Elliott, Jay Foley and Bruce.

Elsewhere, Clacton's team of Bruce, Jay Foley and Henry Goodwin did the club proud by coming ninth out of 40 teams at Southend's Garons Park in the Faldo Wedge event.

In the individual event, Bruce came 23rd, Goodwin 33rd and Foley 58th out of 120.

Clacton's ladies held their guest invitational day.

Intermittent showers did not dampen their spirits, with some good scores recorded. Lin Euston and her partner, Viv Stansfield, from Frinton, were the winners with 41 points.

Sue Gurry and her partner, Liz Khan, from Braintree, came second with 40 points and Maxine Baker and her partner, Kate Fender, from Harwich, came third with 35 points.

£100 was raised for the lady captain's charity - Children's Cancer Research.
