CLACTON Golf Club's ladies competed for the prestigious May Salver and the winner was Judy Speck (71).

She finished just clear of Katy Yates (73) and Liz Strutt (80).

Other ladies not eligible for the salver played in the May Nots stableford competition with the winner being Sandy Cocker, with 32 points.

Jennie Corbyn (30) was second and Steph Smith (24) third.

The next round of the County Monro Foursomes took place and Clacton pair Yates and Charley Hatley played on a neutral course, at Frinton, against Colchester Golf Club.

They continued their run of recent good form with a resounding 6&4 win.

The ladies' Bronze county team travelled to Epping, to play on a hilly, difficult course compared to Clacton.

The terrain proved tough and the team lost 3&2.

Clacton's juniors played in a par competition - the Basil Morgan Trophy.

The three leaders all played under par and they were Wilf Elliott (+3), Jay Foley (+2) and Harrison Dove (+1).

Seventy-seven competitors entered the men’s Veterans Cup, on Saturday.

Danny Thomas won with 38 points, on countback from Peter Hewett, also on 38.

Sean O’Hara came third, also on countback, with 37.

Six twos were carded on the day, with Keith Barnes scoring two on the par four ninth hole.
