THORPE’S men enjoyed Knockout Trophy success.

Playing in the first round, they were up against their neighbours from Frinton B.

The game was played at home on an excellent green.

Thorpe were successful and are through to the next round, which will be held against Dovercourt A on Saturday.

The annual Haynes two-wood triples competition was held at the club with ten teams entering. The format is four games of seven ends.

It was won admirably by John Ferris, Carole Oakley and Mick Dutfield and the team scores were 7-5, 11-6, 8-4 and 8-6.

The runners-up were Jo Day, Colin Barker and Norman Bailey.

The Windsor League team had a week off but the Stanford League team played at home to Wivenhoe.

They only gained two of the eight available points.

The only winning rink was Malcolm Wakelin, Dave Thornton, Bill Baynes and Ray Knight (23-19).

The Premier League team played at home against Brightlingsea on a perfect green which, unfortunately, the home side have not yet mastered this season.

Of the eight points available, only two were taken by the home rink of Barry Day, Mike Oakley, Mick Dutfield and Peter Ayling (17-13).
