HEYBRIDGE SWIFTS held their nerve to eliminate National League side Dagenham and Redbridge from the Essex Senior Cup tonight.
The sides met in a third-round tie at the Chigwell Construction Stadium.
Shamir Mullings put the Daggers ahead on the quarter-hour mark but Kreshnic Krasniqi equalised for Julian Dicks' side on 66 minutes.
It meant a penalty shoot-out was needed and Swifts, who reached the final in 2016, kept their composure to run out 2-1 winners.
Elsewhere in the cup, BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT bowed out after a 2-0 defeat at Bowers and Pitsea.
Ben Sartain put the hosts ahead midway through the first half and Ayo Odukoya settled matters with a second in the 78th minute.
MALDON AND TIPTREE also exited the competition after a 2-0 defeat at Brentwood Town.
Both goals came in the second half, scored by Zack Littlejohn (50) and Mitchel Hunter (75).
