TORQUAY United manager Gary Johnson was hoping for a home draw in the FA Cup - rather than facing a long trek to either Brightlingsea Regent or Egham Town.

The R's and Egham are set to meet in a second qualifying round replay at the Taydal Stadium tonight (kick-off 7.45pm).

The winners have the added incentive of a much-anticipated tie at home to former Football League outfit Torquay on Saturday week (October 6)

“Like all managers say at this stage of the FA Cup draw, when it isn’t at home it’s always a little disappointing,” Johnson told the Gulls website.

“You like to play your FA Cup games at home. However, we’ve been dealt with these cards and, as I speak, we play either Brightlingsea or Egham.

"Either will result in a very long away trip for our supporters.

"We’ll appreciate everyone that makes the trip but understand if some can’t make it.

"Hopefully we can get through to the next round and end up with a nice home draw.

“I’m one that every game I go in to, I want to win it.

"I want to get the players to adopt that mentality as well, as everyone could see with their attitude at Lymington on Saturday.”

Torquay broke their cup record with a 7-0 hammering of Lymington Town, on Saturday.

Egham and Brightlingsea, meanwhile, drew 3-3 at Town's Runnymede Stadium.

The R's led 2-0 and 3-1 but were pegged back and conceded a 90th-minute equaliser.

Forward Kezie Ibe, now 35, scored twice for the Surrey side and he played under Johnson at Yeovil in 2004-2005.
