BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT have been handed a mouth-watering tie at home to Torquay United in the FA Cup third qualifying round – if they get through tomorrow's replay against Egham Town.
The draw took place at lunchtime today and Tom Rothery's side now have even more motivation to get through as they would host the Gulls – a former Football League side – at the Taydal Stadium on Saturday, October 6.
COGGESHALL TOWN, meanwhile, have been handed a trip to either Salisbury City or Weston Super Mare as a reward for their 2-0 victory at home to Walton Casuals.
Brightlingsea and Egham drew 3-3 on Saturday.
In a rollercoaster match, Rothery’s men were leading 2-0 and 3-1 thanks to goals from Matt Baxter (seven minutes), Jake Gould (16) and Josh Gould (53).
But Egham responded and their equalising goal came in the 90th minute.
It was a cruel blow for Brightlingsea, although they will hope to get the job done in front of their own fans tomorrow evening.
If the R’s win, they will pocket £9,000 and the incentive for winning in the next round is an eye-watering £15,000.
