Brightlingsea Regent club photographer GAVIN APLIN was at the Runnymede Stadium on Saturday to see the R’s draw 3-3 with Egham Town, in the second qualifying round of the FA Cup.

BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT are in the hat for today’s FA Cup third qualifying draw at Wembley Stadium.

The R’s will be among the clubs eagerly awaiting their next opponents – although first they must first overcome Egham Town in a second qualifying round replay at the Taydal Stadium tomorrow night (kick-off 7.45pm).

In a rollercoaster match, Tom Rothery’s men were leading 2-0 and 3-1 on Saturday thanks to goals from Matt Baxter (seven minutes), Jake Gould (16) and Josh Gould (53).

But Egham responded and their equalising goal came in the 90th minute.

It was a cruel blow for Brightlingsea, although they will hope to get the job done in front of their own fans tomorrow evening.

Third qualifying round matches are due to take place on Saturday, October 6.

If the R’s win tomorrow they will pocket £9,000 and the incentive for winning in the next round is an eye-watering £15,000.

COGGESHALL TOWN are also in today’s draw following their 2-0 success against Walton Casuals at West Street on Saturday.

However, BRANTHAM ATHLETIC and HEYBRIDGE SWIFTS both exited the competition after losing to Eastbourne Borough and Horsham respectively.
