FC Clacton put themselves in the frame for the honour of win of the day as the Seasiders stayed strong at the end to record a superb FA Vase victory at Hoddesdon Town.

The tie was poised at 2-2 going past the 90 minute mark, with Jake Plane and Harry McDonald on target for Clacton, but Matt Eve had other ideas and his 95th minute goal proved the winner in the second qualifying round tie.

Pushing for the win of the day must also be Little Oakley, who exorcised the demons of a heavy Vase defeat last year to progress with a 1-0 win against higher-league opposition.

The Acorns beat visiting Hadleigh United 1-0 thanks to a Greg Rodger strike on 60 minutes and they held on to that lead as the visitors ended the game with ten men.

FA Holland were unable to progress though, as they lost 1-0 at FC Codicote and a thriller at Brantham Athletic saw the beaten 4-3 by Essex Senior League side Takeley.

Brantham were unable to follow up last weekend's FA Cup heroics despite having George Clarke, Mihael Brothers and Craig Hughes on target.

On Sunday in the FA Vase second qualifying round, Stanway Rovers are due to be in action at Baldock Town and Coggeshall United are hosting Sawbridgeworth.
