CLACTON Golf Club held their annual Golf Leaf Eagle Steamship Pairs competition.

Played over 36 holes, there were three trophies up for grabs.

The rules of the competition are that no one pair can win more than one of the three trophies.

The winners of the overall Eagle Steamship Trophy were father-and-son Paul and Jay Foley, holding off second-placed Gary Lee and Nick Smith.

The morning session, which is a four ball better ball format, is played for the Denham Cup.

First place went to Paul Pidgeon and Jiwan Rai and in second were another father and son pairing, Bob and James Hanks.

In the afternoon, the format changes to greensomes.

In first place were Steve Scott and Richard Hart and in second were Lee Hale and Peter Wright.

Meanwhile, Clacton's men played for the May Midweek Medal.

Richard Hart won with a nett 67 and in second place, one shot back, was Paul (PJ) Millard with nett 68, on countback from Jay Foley, in third, also with a nett 68.

Clacton's ladies played their third Summer Medal competition.

First place went to Elizabeth Strutt and she was followed by Kath Sinnot and then Ann Wright.

The ladies also played for the Carol Finch Trophy.

Sonja Strutt (26) won this putting competition, with second place going to Elizabeth Strutt (27) and third to Denise Pink (29).

Clacton's ladies Bronze team played their last match away at Thorndon Park and lost 4-1.

Out of the five matches this season, the ladies have won one and lost four.

Team captain Di Kedge thanked all her players for their support and efforts during the five matches.

The club's juniors played their third summer stableford competition.

In first place, with 38 points, was Wilf Elliott.

Second place went to Harvey Bell and third to Jay Foley.
