WALTON'S bowlers swept the board when they took part in an open fours competition at Gunton Hall Leisure Resort.

They won the event and dominated to such an extent that their teams provided all four semi-finalists.

The title went to the Walton quartet of Eric and Loo Boddy, Cindy Byatt and Bob Stewart.

They beat clubmates Mike and Gillie Gale, Barry Webb and Don Storey 8-5 in a closely-fought final.

There were just two shots in it going into the final end and the Gales looked like drawing level.

But a brilliant last wood from Stewart won the end and the match.

The Gale foursome also had a close-run thing in the semi-final, where they faced Jack and Sylvie Reid and promising newcomers Steve and Gay Hartwell.

They were behind for most of the match before staging a strong rally to get home by two shots and edge into the final.

There were no such problems for the Boddy team in the other semi-final.

They had things all their own way and enjoyed a comfortable victory over Bob and Edith Newman, Barbara Flaxman and Bill Harding.

Walton members turned out in force for the trip and did the club proud.
