A FIELD of 50 men and women paid tribute to Vince Summers by playing for a memorial trophy at Frinton Golf Club.
It was a blustery day, making the going tough.
However, Dick Groves proved his mettle, winning outright with 38 points.
Caroline Gard was awarded second place on countback with 34 points, just ahead of Gavin Cowell.
After five blobs in a row, Charles Yardley boosted his score significantly by getting a hole in one on the sixth.
The ladies played a fun competition called a threesomes reverse waltz over nine holes, where various combinations of scores count.
The winners, with 31 points, were Audrey Joshua, Jane Quick and Linda Boland.
Second place went to the team of Joan Stevenson, Tracey Taylor and Ginny Richardson, with 30 points.
