CLACTON and District Indoor Bowls Club held their ladies' captains day in aid of Cancer Research UK.
This is the president's charity for the year.
Forty-three ladies attended an afternoon of bowling.
It started with a buffet and was then followed by a spider.
All the ladies were positioned at the edges of the green and upon the bell, all delivered a bowl towards a spider.
The bowler nearest to the spider was Joyce Hill.
The competition then saw two games of six ends being played, with each player selecting a disc to advise them which rink they were playing on.
The games used up all six rinks with teams of three and four bowlers.
All the ladies then retired for afternoon tea while the scores were added up.
The overall winner was Rita Seaman and the runner-up was Sue Dartnell.
An enjoyable afternoon was had by all.
Thanks go to ladies' captain Stella Newell for organising the afternoon, along with ladies' vice-captain Joyce Hill, Jean Taylor and Sylvia Broadbent.
In total just under £200 was raised, which will go to Cancer Research UK.
