COLCHESTER and Tendring athletes won five gold and two bronze medals at the Eastern Counties Track and Field Championships, at Cambridge.
In the under-13 boys' 800 metres, Samuel Shippey continued his excellent season, winning the gold with ease in a time of two minutes and 16 seconds.
It was a meeting record.
Thomas Palmer, in his under-15 boys' 800m, also ran from the front to win gold in 2m 4.26s.
Clacton's Ami Fosker returned to form to win gold in the senior women's 200m in 26.94s.
She also had a fine run in her 800m to win bronze in 2m 24.74s.
Philippa Baxter won gold in the under-20 women's 800m with a season's best 2m 24.85s.
Debbie Castle won gold in the senior women's shot putt, managing nine metres and 36 centimetres.
Joseph Patterson came away with a bronze in the under-20 men's 800m in 2m 4.95s.
Ebba Paterson showed up well in the under-15 girls' 800m in 2m 34.83s, while Ella Gray and Kira Wealls looked sharp in the heats of the under-15 girls' 100m to make it a successful day for CATs.
