FC CLACTON’S Ray Turner admitted being mentally and physically spent after Saturday’s incredible 4-4 draw at Thetford Town.
The Seasiders’ player-boss and Jack Clampin gave their side a 2-0 lead, thanks to goals after five and 24 minutes.
But the hosts pulled one back from the penalty spot, after a handball by Clampin, and then levelled just after the hour-mark.
Ten minutes later it was 3-2 to Thetford.
However, in a pulsating, topsy-turvy game, Lee Peacock and Jake Clowsley goals put Clacton back in the driving seat at 4-3.
Sadly that was not the end of the scoring, though, as Thetford snatched a share of the spoils thanks to their second penalty of the afternoon, after a foul by keeper Keith Tucker.
“It must have been a thrilling game for the neutrals but, on a personal note, I went through so many emotions,” said Turner. “By the end of it, I was exhausted – both mentally and physically."
