Tributes have been paid to a serving councillor who has passed away.

Friends and colleagues have paid tribute to Diane Hoy, a Green party councillor for Hullbridge at Rochford Council, after she passed away earlier this month.

Diane was first elected to the council in 2011, and was representing residents alongside her husband, Michael Hoy, a fellow Green party councillor.

Mrs Hoy's cause of death is unknown at this time.

The councillor was extremely popular amongst residents, friends, and councillors, and was a "pivotal part of the community."

The south east Essex Green Party, said: "Diane was a pivotal part of her community in Hullbridge, and she was a beloved mother, wife, and friend.

"She served Hullbridge for over a decade as a committed and passionate Green Party councillor, and she was a friend to everyone.

"She will be sadly missed, and our condolences, love, and support go to Michael, the family, and all who knew Diane."

Mrs Hoy passed away on September 11.
