Police have revealed why they were called to the scene of a "serious incident" at Rochford Hospital last night.
At around 6.45pm yesterday (July 22), police, the fire service and ambulance crews were spotted at the hospital on Union Lane, Rochford, which specialises in mental health.
Police are believed to have blocked off the entrance of the road during the incident, after being called with concerns for the safety of a woman.
Once officers arrived, the woman was then brought to safety and left in the care of medical professionals.
Witnesses have reported also seeing emergency services further along the road at Rochford train station during the incident.
