The team from Leisure Island Fun Park are all set for today's grand re-opening.

The amusement park, on Eastern Esplanade, Canvey, will open from 10.30am this morning (July 23).

After remaining closed since lockdown began, the team are raring and at the ready to welcome families back through their doors, with a whole host of safety measures in place.

These inclue different entry and exit points, hand sanitiser stations, the regular cleaning of rides and drastically reducing guest numbers, operating at a 25 per cent capacity which will only allow around 500 people into the park.

The re-opening comes only a month after owner Scott Petty confirmed it's closure, which appeared at the time to be permanent.

Mr Petty has told the Echo issues with Castle Point Council have now been ironed out. He had felt pushed out by council bosses.

But he has now said the council has promised him the park won't be "left out of the loop" when it comes to proposing ideas to benefit the seafront.

The park will be closing at 5.30pm today and will be offering £5 entry all day for a child's wristband, with adults going for free.

Parking will be available for £4 all day in the main council car parks.

The team are not yet taking bookings and will instead monitor numbers at the gates.

A spokesperson from Leisure Island Fun Park, said: "We are getting loads of messages regarding booking for the park. At this time we are not taking bookings.

"We will be monitoring our numbers at the gates. If we start to experience high visitor numbers we will have to take another look at taking bookings.

"This is something we really want to avoid.

"We always post our closing time on the day."
