BASILDON'S Hollywood-style sign turned blue last night in support of the NHS workers.
The Basildon borough silver sign that was created after WW2 and one of the town's most iconic landmarks, turned blue last night as a symbol of support and gratitude for all carers and essential workers as the coronavirus pandemic continues.
The Mayor of Basildon David Burton-Sampson, the Leader of the Council Gavin Callaghan, and the Chief Executive of the Council Scott Logan, took up spots just before 8pm in front of the sign as it turned blue, to mark the occasion and joined in the Thursday 8pm applause for the NHS.
Turning the sign blue did not cost any additional taxpayer money.
