MALDON’S fire crew tackled a car fire and prevented a major incident at a restaurant.

Firefighters first dealt with a vehicle fire on Thursday, May 23 when they were called to reports of the fire on Maldon Road.

A black Range Rover was found with its bonnet on fire at the side of the road.

A spokesman said: “Using a team in breathing apparatus and two hose reels, we worked to put out the fire.

“We then extinguished the hotspots unit the fire was fully out.”

On Saturday, May 25, they were called to Maldon high street in the morning where there were reports of smoke at chain restaurant Prezzo.

A spokesman added: “We had reports of smoke coming from the building.

“Upon arrival, we found that the smoke was coming from some wooden panels on the outside.

“We removed the wooden panels which he caught fire and extinguished any hotspots that remained.

“Using our Positive Pressure Ventilation fan, we cleared the restaurant of the remaining smoke.”

There were no injuries for either incident.
