A WOMAN says she is at her wits end after three years of threatening behaviour from a neighbour.

Julie Lindsay, 58, has lived at Collingwood House in Westcliff since February 2016, and says a tenant has been making neighbour’s lives hell.

The man, who Ms Lindsay says suffers from paranoid schizophrenia, makes threats to her and others, and has been known to walk around the block with a knife, shouting constantly.

Ms Lindsay said the police have been called on several occasions throughout her time at the accommodation.

She said: “It’s a case now where our lives are like hell. This man will make threats right outside my door, he shouts all the time and it’s very, very scary.

“I’ve had so much stress the last few years, I was told by people before moving that it was quite a quiet and relaxed place, but that’s not the case at all.

“I just don’t know what else to do about it, Notting Hill Genesis haven’t moved him, and they didn’t tell me someone with schizophrenia was living here before I moved in.

“When the police have come, it’s had to be armed response units, as he’s been known to run around with a knife.”

Ms Lindsay said she fears something terrible will happen and the man could cause people serious harm if he’s not moved or helped.

She believes the accommodation owners, Notting Hill Genesis Housing, haven’t taken definitive action to help the situation.

She added: “I just can’t believe something like this has been allowed to happen, and for so long, in a flat block which is meant to be stress free.

“I work for Havens Hospice and try to get out regularly, but I’m always scared of what he might do and who could get hurt.

“Something really needs to change, it’s terrifying.”

A Notting Hill Genesis spokesman said: “We cannot comment on the personal circumstances of individual residents living in our homes. However the safety of our residents and their visitors is always of paramount importance.

“While the number of anti-social behaviour reports at this location is very low, all incidents are treated seriously and investigated.”
