A CHEF will travel to Luxembourg to compete in a national cooking competition.

Abid Hussain, head chef at Mango Lounge in High Street, Rayleigh will compete in the Culinary World Cup next month among 58 teams from across the globe.

Mr Hussain booked his place in the competition after taking part in the UK Curry Connect competition in Bedfordshire.

He said: "I am very proud to have qualified and I'm look forward to competing in the next stage in Luxembourg."

Mr Hussain will be competing as part of the UK Curry Connect team.

A spokesman for UK Curry Connect said: "Achieving excellence at this level is only reserved for those with ambition to be the best on the world stage.

"UK Curry Connect along with Central Bedfordshire College have secured entry into this year's elite competition and will be representing Team India and the best of British India cuisine."
