Long delays following yesterday's lorry crash on the A13 saw drivers risk penalty points just to escape the traffic.
A lorry collided with the central reservation of the A13, creating 300 metres of debris and knocking down a number of lamposts.
There where long delays in both directions of the A13 for several hours after the incident.
Several drivers reported seeing other drivers exit the A road by driving the wrong way down slip roads.
And drivers had to be warned by police against driving the wrong way up slip roads to avoid traffic as several were spotted heading the wrong way.
We are dealing with a crash on the #A13 and associated closures but have reports of people driving the wrong way up slip roads to avoid - this is dangerous and unacceptable and WILL result in points and a fine following in the post (the list of reg plates is growing) pic.twitter.com/omYnrmE6Nd
