MORE than 20,000 Maldon residents have received both Covid jabs, new figures show.
NHS data shows 21,300 people had received both jabs by May 9.
This represents 39 per cent of those aged 16 and over, based on the latest population estimates from the Office for National Statistics.
Of those to have received both jabs, 19,865 were aged 40 and over – 50 per cent of the age group.
It means 1,435 people aged between 16 to 39 have received both doses.
Across Maldon, 73 per cent of those aged 16 and over have had one jab.
Areas with the highest coverage:
• Great Totham, Wickham Bishops & Woodham, with 78.7 per cent
• Burnham-on-Crouch, 76.8 per cent
• Maldon South, 75.1 per cent
Areas with the lowest coverage:
• Maldon North, 69.2 per cent
• Southminster, Bradwell & Dengie Peninsula, 70.5 per cent
• Heybridge, 70.8 per cent
The lockdown restrictions and vaccine rollout have had a positive effect on the Covid rate in the district.
The latest Government figures showing a rolling rate of 4.6 per 100,000 with three cases in the seven days leading up to May 8.
