A KIND-HEARTED driver said he will be able to transport elderly residents for their Covid jab until spring time.

Matt Winslow, 49, known locally as Matt Malones, has had a successful run of his Cab and Jab service from his private hire business in Tiptree. In an effort to give back, Matt has decided that any excess donations he receives will be going back into the community.

So far, £127.50 is set to go to the Tiptree Volunteers and £127.50 to Tolleshunt Knights Preschool.

By the end of April, he hopes he will make 54 journeys to get vulnerable residents to get their life-saving vaccine.

Matt said: “The money which has been donated has exceeded the journeys I would make.

“The total amount I’ve received is £1,227 and the money I will use for the 54 journeys will be £972.

“The rest of it, along with donations and tips I’ve received, will be given to charity.

“The Preschool is close to my heart because my wife works there and the person who set up the PayPal donation fund is the accountant there.

“The Tiptree Volunteers have really helped me out as well with PPE for me to safely do it.

“Every Friday, they also do a lateral flow test to make sure I’m safe and my customers can see that I’m safe.”

Matt hopes he can do everything he can to get people to the vaccination centres over the next few months.

He added: “You’ve got to make something happy out of a bad situation. Picking all these people up has given me a boost.”

Matt got his famous Malones name after a nickname he got from his dad when he set up the business.
