A GOAL-scoring teenager is set to take on his biggest game yet after he was picked for his first team squad in the FA Cup.

Alfie Adams, 17, of Clare Close, Halstead, is set to take part in the preliminary round of this season’s competition.

Alfie, who can play as a striker or winger, currently plays for AFC Sudbury Academy Boys but has been called up to the AFC Sudbury first team for their match against Burton Park Wanderers.

The match kicks off on Tuesday at 7.45pm as is set to be broadcast live on BBC Sport.

The bright young talent’s family are hoping supporters will tune in to watch him make his mark on the world’s most historic footballing competition.

Step-mum Stephanie Brackley said: “His whole family are so proud of how well he’s doing.

“He trains so hard and is dedicated to his football which he started playing at a young age.

“He’s now 17 and plays for AFC Sudbury and is doing brilliantly with them.

“Hopefully the Three Pigeons in Halstead will open up to show this game and support a local lad.

“We are all so proud of Alfie Adams and can’t wait to enjoy the game watching on TV. We will all be rooting for Sudbury.”
