A MAN has died and a teenager is fighting for his life after a car crashed into a tree during the early hours of this morning.

Essex Police were called to the junction of America Road and Coggeshall Road, in Earls Colne, at 1.40am today.

The force had received reports that a red Ford Fiesta had crashed into a tree. 

As a result of the single-vehicle accident, a man in his 20s died at the scene. 

Another man, in his late teens, has since been rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

The road is expected to remain closed this morning and officers have advised drivers to avoid the area and re-plan their journeys. 

Essex Police also now appealing for anyone with information about the car’s movements before the incident to contact them. 

A spokesman for the force said: “If you saw a red Ford Fiesta in the area in the early hours of this morning, have CCTV or dashcam footage, please call us on 101 quoting incident 164 of 2 August.”
