NO new deaths of patients who had tested positive for coronavirus have been registered at the trust which runs Colchester Hospital.

According to the latest NHS England data there were no new deaths of those with the virus registered at the East Suffolk and North Essex yesterday.

The total number of deaths at the trust, which runs both Colchester and Ipswich hospitals, still stands at 351 patients.

There were, however, three further deaths of patients who had tested positive for coronavirus at hospitals across Essex.

One took place at the Mid Essex Hospitals Trust and two at Southend University Hospital Trust.

A total of five more deaths related to the condition were registered at hospitals in the east of England yesterday, along with 26 in total across the country.

A spokesman for NHS England said: “A further 26 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 29,103.

“Patients were aged between 49 and 94-years-old.

“One patient aged 71 had no known underlying health conditions.

“Their families have been informed.”
