A PAIR of talented youngsters have been named the winners of an art competition.

Out of hundreds of entries, Hamilton Primary School pupils Sophia Nagi and Chloe Brumpton were crowned the winners in the Rotary Club of Colchester's Young Artist competition in the infants and juniors categories.

The competition, organised by Rotarian Val Tyrell, takes place each year and sees the winner receive trophies courtesy of Rotarian Ann Holmes.

Six schools in Colchester took part this year, with 211 children entering the competition.

As well as Sophia and Chloe being named the winners, runners up were chosen from Boxted St Peters School.

The winning pair were presented with their trophies at their school by new Rotary President Dave King, although from a distance in order to meet social distancing rules.

A spokesman for the Rotary Club of Colchester said: "The Rotary Club of Colchester has been continuing to meet weekly by Zoom, and has made donations to a number of local causes, including Crossroads and Homestart.

"The club is also covering the insurance for the van used by the Colchester Anti Loo Roll Brigade."
