TESTING times lie ahead for school teachers.

The Government has announced all school pupils will be back at school full-time in September after the summer holidays.

But are teachers going to be ready in time?

Or will they be spending the summer chronically planning how the school day will work?

In recent weeks we have seen the re-emergence of teaching in schools for certain year groups and the children of key workers.

However, teaching handfuls of pupils under strict social distancing measures must be difficult enough, yet alone when schools are back in full capacity in two months.

This week, local teachers have expressed their trepidation on the re-opening of schools from September, and they are eagerly awaiting to hear the latest Government guidelines so they can safely run full classes again.

We hope an announcement comes soon to at least give teachers and parents some peace of mind.

Running schools in these unprecedented times is a testament of how hardworking teaching staff are.

We wish them all the best for September onwards.
