A pub is preparing to showcase its new look and new restrictions as it reopens on Saturday.

The Black Rabbit, at the bottom of Maldon High Street, reopens to customers on Saturday.

Owners Evan and Annie said they 'cannot' wait for everyone to see the changes they have made.

But punters will have to comply with the strict safety measures.

Evan said: "We recently completed our Covid-19 risk assessment and are very happy with the measures we have in place to protect our staff and guests.

"Everything we are doing meets the UK Governments guidelines and requirements, with our guests comfort and ease and the forefront of our minds so that everyone can enjoy their first, long awaited pint in our pub with as little disruption as possible.

"In addition to hand sanitising stations set up throughout the building, we will be operating a one-way system throughout the pub and a table layout that has been amended to accommodate social distancing between groups.

Customers can order food and drink using an app so they don’t have to go to the bar.

Customers’ names and emails will also be taken for the NHS track and trace system.

Evan said: “Since closing our doors in March we have really missed our regulars and the great atmosphere of the pub.

“We have spent a lot of time during lockdown working hard to make great changes to the building that we cannot wait for everyone to see.

“It is a new chapter for Black Rabbit as we enter our third year here in Maldon with a new look, new beer garden, new menu and for us a new baby on the way!

“We are looking forward to seeing everyone on July 4, it is going to be a great day and it will be fantastic to finally have our doors open again as we slowly return to normality.”
