A MUM-OF-THREE has set up a street book stall to keep neighbours entertained during lockdown.

Tracy Barker-Chaplin and children Freddie, 13; Monty, 11; and Ayla, five, have been running the book stall on Spital Road in Maldon since the beginning of the lockdown.

So far they have raised £285 from selling books for just 50p.

Tracy said: “We open most days from about 10am, but we don’t open on windy or wet days.

“We started with one box of books which were meant for boot sales and now we have people drop off books every day.

“At the start of lockdown obviously people were wary of touching books, but we soon became a regular hub to some locals, swapping books and taking them to those who were shielding.

“At the moment we have an abundance of quality books and some vintage magazines which are quite retro.

“There are books on writing, flower arranging and even some beautiful maps and atlases.

“We do have something for everyone for 50p.”
