POLICE officers have praised residents for following Government advice to stay home and stay safe in the fight to stop the spread of Covid-19.
Officers from the Harwich Community Policing Team have been out patrolling in the town as well as in rural areas.
The lockdown says people should only go out for exercise once a day and for essential functions.
PC Kent and PC Spencer also took the train to Manningtree and patrolled on foot around Manningtree, Mistley and Lawford during the weekend.
PCSO Groves and PCSO Duffett also went on patrol in the Wix and Great Oakley areas.
Essex Assistant Chief Constable Andy Prophet expressed his gratitude to residents for following Government guidelines.
He said: “The approach we are taking is to advise, explain and appeal to people to do the right thing, only using enforcement when it is absolutely necessary.
“We know most people in our county want to do the right thing, protect the NHS and ultimately save lives. We are patrolling and out visible in public and will continue to be so.
“Please stay home.”
