A SHOWSTOPPING pantomime which was staged in a huge tent as the Mercury Theatre undergoes refurbishment has been nominated for two awards.
The theatre’s production of Cinderella has been shortlisted for two accolades at the Great British Pantomime Awards.
The Mercury was bumped up a category this year due to the increased capacity of its pop-up venue at Abbey Field.
It is up against some of the best and largest theatres in the UK, including Theatre Royal Bath, Kings Theatre Edinburgh and Lyceum Theatre Sheffield.
The Mercury has been nominated in two categories - best show (750-1,500 seats) and best ugly sisters for hilarious turns by regulars Dale Superville and Antony Stuart-Hicks.
The winners will be announced on Sunday, April 26, at a glitzy ceremony at The Shaw Theatre, London.
