A POPULAR car park at a tourist attraction will have fewer spaces while major bridge works take place.

Mill Pond car park in Dedham will have fewer places to park from Monday until Friday as it will be used as a compound by Suffolk County Council.

The closure is to support the council’s major maintenance work on the nearby B1029 Dedham road bridge.

Shoppers, visitors and workers in Dedham will be able to park at Mill Lane car park nearby but it is not free.

Mike Lilley (Lab), Colchester councillor responsible for communities, wellbeing and public safety, said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the reduction in spaces.

“However, Suffolk County Council needs to complete these essential bridge works and using the car park as a compound is the best solution.

“The nearby, and much larger, Mill Lane car park will remain open throughout this period so visitors, shoppers, workers can continue to enjoy Dedham.”
