I AM sorry to say it but mobility scooters must be banned from our roads.
They are a great help for people who cannot walk or for those who are infirm.
But driving them on the road is a danger to themselves and a hazard to those vehicles.
As example, my wife bordered a bus outside Wilco which goes up Maldon Road.
A little old lady on a scooter drove up St John Street to Head Street, down Crouch Street, across the Maldon Road Road roundabout, down Maldon Road and, thankfully, for the two buses and a line of cars, she turned left into the retirement block of flats.
My wife said she was totally unaware at what problems she was causing.
These scooters should be capped at 4mph, walking pace, as they are also a danger to us pedestrians at the speed they can go.
And, no, this is not a have a go at the people who use these vehicles but a case of health and safety for all.
