Power cuts have hit homes across Stanway and Colchester Zoo this afternoon.
UK Power Networks is aware of the issue across Stanway and Fordham Heath.
Power is expected to be restored between 2pm and 3pm.
It is understood 210 customers have been affected.
In a Tweet Colchester Zoo said: "Please be aware that the Stanway area is currently experiencing power cuts.
"We hope to be fully operational shortly but please bare with us during this time.
"More information is available from the UK power networks website."
